Couples Therapy and Marriage Counseling for Those Who Want More
Many of the people I work with feel they want more from their relationship with their partner. Some feel like they have become “roommates,” while some have felt the relationship grow colder year after year. Many fear it is too late to repair the relationship. If this resonates with you, you are not alone. Relationships can be challenging, and many people feel stuck. Couples therapy is a path forward for many couples who want something more.
There are many reasons why couples may seek couples therapy or marriage counseling. Here are common issues I help my clients with through couples therapy:
Communication Breakdowns: Feeling misunderstood, constantly defensive, or walking on eggshells.
Infidelity & Trust Recovery: Healing the deep wounds of betrayal and navigating the road to rebuilding trust.
Parenting & Family Stress: Navigating differing parenting styles, boundary issues with extended family, or the transition into parenthood.
Life Transitions: Coping with career changes, financial stress, or moving to a new home.
Emotional Distance: Overcoming the “roommate dynamic” and reviving physical and emotional intimacy.
- Preventive Care: Working through problems before they become too big.
- Discernment Counseling: Discerning whether to divorce or remain married before life-altering decisions are made.
Trauma and PTSD
The past can really hurt. Many people experience intrusive thoughts and memories that they can’t get out of their head. Whether you have experienced “Big T” trauma or a smaller trauma, the effects can be debilitating. EMDR therapy provides relief for those who have memories or negative beliefs that are harmful. Those who experience disturbing memories, flashbacks, and negative thought patterns find relief through EMDR Therapy. Through the process of EMDR therapy, difficult memories are processed so they no longer affect how you feel and think about yourself.

FAQ
Do you accept insurance?
I am private pay only and do not bill insurance directly. Upon request, I can provide a superbill — an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. I recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card and asking about your out-of-network mental health benefits before your first session.
What are your rates?
The initial intake session is $225. All follow-up sessions are $175. Evening appointment times are available for those who cannot attend during regular business hours.
Do you offer telehealth or in-person sessions?
What happens in the first session?
How long does therapy typically take?
Am I required to commit to a certain number of sessions?
What if my partner is reluctant to come to therapy?
This is very common. Reluctance usually comes from fear — of being blamed, of having to relive painful moments, or simply of the unknown. If your partner is hesitant, a good first step is framing the first session as a chance to be heard rather than a commitment to a long process. I also offer a free 10-minute consultation where your partner can ask questions before deciding. In the meantime, individual therapy can still be a productive starting point.
